PaaS, or Platform as a Service

PaaS, or Platform as a Service is a type of cloud, that is most commonly used by all kinds of developers, software houses and ISV's.

The referred platform should be understood by a ready runtime environment for your application. Such an environment will include a specific operating system, adapted to the needs of the application, with specific set of tools, right frameworks and proper configuration.

PaaS is a launch speed

Software companies will appreciate the fact that in just a few moments they can run any number of such platforms, with a ready for example LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) environment, but not only, because it may be as well a development environment for companies specializing in Python, Java or Ruby.

Creating a new environment through PaaS (remember that sometimes entire development teams are created, within the company, where there can be like 20 programmers) takes just a few minutes.

PaaS is a test environment

Software companies, however, are not the only beneficiaries of PaaS. Companies carrying out mass benchmarks or other stress tests also are increasingly turning to this type of cloud. In a few moments they can have at their disposal any number of test stations.
